SPRING 2009 SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATHEMATICS ENRICHMENT CLASSES
Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) are taking off at Aikahi Elementary as a Junior Mathletes Math Club joins our other programs in the Science Enrichment lineup this fall!
Fun Season Robotics (Grades 3-6)
Thursday, 2:15 - 3:30 PM (begins 22 January)
This spring, the Aikahi Robotics Fun Season will be held on Thursday afternoon after school. The theme for the Fun Season is Mission to Mars. During the 14 weeks of the Fun Season we will build and program our robots to perform exploratory tasks on the surface of Mars. We will learn and use a real world design methodology, build 5 different robots and program them to unlock the secrets of the Red Planet! So come prepared to work hard and have fun! NOTE: The Spring Fun Season is open to 3d graders! This is a great way to get ready for next year’s FIRST LEGO League competitive program.
Cost: $150.00 (30 Student Limit)

Senior Mathletes (Grades 4-6)
Ready to compete? This spring Senior Mathletes is preparing for a Math Olympiad. This is a competitive team event involving mathematical calculation and problem-solving at its best. Each team member will build their skills with numbers and operations, Algebra, measurements, Geometry, data analysis and probability to help the team solve problems and bring home the Gold!
Cost: $150.00 (20 Student Limit)
Junior Science Club (Grades K-2)
Wednesdays, 12:45 - 1:45 pm (begins 21 January)
Join us for a fantastic voyage through the world of science. This club is a hands-on introduction to using the scientific method to investigate and solve problems. Topics of investigation will include introduction to the basics of flight, beginning astronomy, simple machines and robotics and introductory physics. Club agenda is tied to science curriculum and will include age/grade appropriate mathematics and technology. NOTE: Junior Science Club is open to Kindergarteners this spring!

Junior Mathletes Math Club (Grades 1-3)
Wednesdays, 2:00 - 3:00 pm (begins 21 January)
Are you excited about finding patterns in the stars, spinning the winning number, or getting the largest piece of pie? Then Junior Mathletes is for you! We will spend our meetings exploring addition, subtraction, measurements and geometry as we investigate and solve some of the great mysteries of mathematics. And you will get to have fun solving interesting mysteries with you friends while you learn!!
Cost: $150.00 (20 Student Limit)
Senior Science Club (Grades 3-6)
Wednesdays, 3:15 - 4:30 pm (begins 21 January)
Ready for a real challenge? This club is a hands-on opportunity to build on those hard won math and science skills by using the scientific method to investigate and solve problems. Topics of investigation will include the mechanics of flight, astronomy and space flight, mechanical engineering and robotics, and applied physics with rocketry and catapults. Club agenda is tied to science curriculum and will include age/grade appropriate mathematics and technology.
Cost: $150.00 (20 Student Limit)
All of our programs are designed to provide our students with a balanced exposure to science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Combine this with interesting activities, a dash of fun and you have the Aikahi STEM Enrichment Programs!
Each program will run 14 + weeks. Registration will begins 13 January 2008.
